Why it has excellent strength, flex and pop:

Decks made with epoxy are simply too stiff and wood glue can be too soft, so we found glue that is just right.

Our glue spreads throughout the grain and it is allowed to cure in the press, making the board as one.

Our SWEETRIDGE & POWERLINE technology ensures the shape and contour longevity.

A combination of the materials used, the manufacturing process and the finish give you one of the most advanced, responsive and reliable decks you will ever skate.

How it came to be: 

    Over 20 years of skateboard, snowboard and fingerboard experience sparked the passion to make a fingerboard unlike any other.  One year, 100+ decks, 10 homemade presses, 5 different designs, 4 steel presses, thousands of testing hours, one trip to the doctor and zero doubts have accomplished that very goal.  Northwoods is a “thinking” company and we are proud to offer a deck full of innovations without compromising the idea of a fun board.  In fact, that is our point. 

    We discovered our core technology after testing numerous materials to find one with the ability to snap back into shape quickly. POWERLINE is twice as dense and rigid as our maple layers, so by embedding this into the center, we can take full advantage of its rebounding properties without sacrificing the characteristics of the traditional maple feel.  POWERLINE provides strength, shape retention and pop. 

    The kick of a deck comes down to preference.  Too much kick on a board can obstruct you from performing tricks and too little can leave your fingers alone in the air.  Northwoods has found a 28-degree kick to be an aggressive medium that satisfies both dilemmas.  It allows the perfect loft to go big and the right amount of release to let it flip under control. 

    Our one of a kind SWEETRIDGE ergonomic concave hugs your fingers while offering sweet spots throughout the length of the board to encourage consistent setup and performance of tricks.  This shape is the final result of the sweat, tears and thought that went into its development. 

     Its subtlety makes it difficult to see so we cut one of our beautiful decks in half to better illustrate what makes our shape so special.  The SWEETRIDGE concave was very difficult to achieve, but the payoff has been exponential in the feel and performance of every deck pressed.
